Mostly prep this time, but there will be more planting this coming week. Last week MrB was filled with enthusiasm, and used some scrap timber and a couple of scavenged sheets of corrogated iron to build us another raised bed. He also cleared the site for a herb hedge near our fence, and built a little border for it to keep the creeping herbs in control. (I will post a photo, but can’t today – it’s pouring outside, not great photography weather).

Yesterday he bought a cubic meter of organic humus & filled the new raised bed. There was plenty left to top up all the raised beds in the backyard, and we still have leftovers for future projects.

I need to get some new lettuce going this week, so will plant that in the bed we cleared the sweet potatoes from a couple of weeks ago (we topped it up with lots of manure after the harvest). I’ll also aim to get some new sweet potatoes going in the new raised bed, and plant the herb bed. We have rosemary & lavender started from cuttings, and thyme and oregano ready to be divided & planted out.
