Camden Council food waste collection

I went for a walk in Camden today, and noticed lots of houses had little, lidded buckets sitting outside them. They were clearly too small to be rubbish bins, and on closer inspection, I discovered they were in fact designed for recycling food waste – the council now collects them. I imagine there’s a MASSIVE compost heap somewhere, steaming wildly. Our local council collects (and composts) green waste, but specifically asks us not to include food scraps. In our house they mostly get fed to the worms or bokashi’d – though sometimes they are just chucked in the bin, for various reasons.

I have friends here who live in Camden… I’ll ask them how it’s working for them so far.
